EQUAL RIGHTS + JUSTICE

Equal Rights & Justice is one of Peter’s fiercest and dearest battles, one he championed, talked and sung about extensively throughout his illustrious career. This initiative aims to continue his unfinished fight to see the oppressed liberated from the torment of injustice.

As he rightly used to say:

"There will be no peace until there’s Equal Rights & Justice for All."

NIAMBE MCINTOSH
Chairperson of the Board

Over the last several years, Niambe McIntosh, the youngest child of the revolutionary musician and activist Peter Tosh, has stepped up to the mantle to carry on her father’s message and legacy.  A renaissance woman, she serves many roles, including the head of the Peter Tosh Estate and Brand; Managing Member of Tosh Holdings LLC; Board Chairperson for the Peter Tosh Foundation Ltd.; and President of PT Capital LLC.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, McIntosh has come to call both home.  She received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering and enjoyed a successful career in the field during her early 20’s, however her passion for working with kids of all ages led her to switch gears and become an educator. She spent nearly a decade working in the Boston Public School system teaching mathematics and special education to high school 9th-12th graders.

During this time, Niambe was instrumental in the planning and development of the Peter Tosh Museum which opened in 2016 and is a national landmark edifice in Kingston, Jamaica dedicated to the preservation of her father’s legacy. Additionally, Mcintosh and her family founded the Peter Tosh Foundation in 2017 to serve as the vehicle for the realization of her father’s dream.

Niambe’s fire for advocacy also stems from a family crisis in February of 2017 in which her brother Jawara McIntosh – musician and cannabis activist – was brutally attacked while incarcerated for cannabis possession. She moved to New Jersey to be by his side during his near death experience which compelled her to raise awareness of the dire conditions faced by prisoners and the need for prison reform in the United States.

Beyond family and business, McIntosh also serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit cannabis advocacy organization, Minorities For Medical Marijuana (M4MM), which focuses on public policy, business development, patient education and social justice as it pertains to minority issues in the cannabis industry. McIntosh is a spokesperson for the organization’s “Project Clean Slate” which provides record expungements and wrap-around services for individuals with cannabis arrests.

Niambe McIntosh is unquestionably cut from the same cloth as her father, yet not living in his shadows… Instead, she has developed her own identity while breathing new life into his.

Glenn’s story begins in Brooklyn, New York. As a teen coming up in the late 1970s, Glenn earned his early music credit as a pioneer of Hip Hop culture. In his 20s, Glenn landed a corporate job which he juggled alongside music production because it afforded him the opportunity to execute some of his childhood goals by investing in a Queens Village recording studio.

Glenn’s roots in the music industry proved to be a pivotal stepping stone to his next career move. The Book Bank Foundation, which he founded in 1998, was Glenn’s way of giving back to the place where he started. He wanted to share the confidence and insight that reading gave him, with those who were enduring rough times and who had been displaced from their homes. To date, the BBF has served over 175,000 children nationwide and contributed over 520,000 hours of community service with tutoring, alternative education solutions and career development services to Atlanta Shelters, Shelter from the Streets and Hero Awards.

Her lifelong love for the arts has driven her to use the power of music as a tool for purpose and change. In 2012, she collaborated on What is Beautiful Never Dies, a music therapy project that connected families who lost loved ones to violence with hip-hop artists, transforming their
stories into songs.

inmates. Her personal experiences with having loved ones behind the wall gave her an up-close understanding of systemic oppression and recurring injustices that plague communities—fueling her motivation to ‘give a voice to the voiceless.’

Larok views her presence in these spaces as a representation of those she holds dear and remains committed to strengthening and rebuilding community reunification. She currently serves on the board for AccessMA, a charity organization dedicated to expanding access to health and human resources for incarcerated individuals, their families, and impacted communities.

Letia has won multiple awards, including two New England Urban Music Awards and two Mass Industry Committee Hip Hop Awards. She has also been nominated for The Boston Phoenix’s “Best Music Poll” and a “Boston Music Award” for “Outstanding Rap/Hip Hop Act of the Year.”

She has an extensive history working with Boston youths and organizations serving as a mentor, and facilitating workshops focused on arts activism, community building, and restoration. She taught as a Teaching Artist within Boston Public Schools promoting art as a
powerful outlet for expression and social change.

Since November 2021, Letia has served as the Executive Director of The Transformative Culture Project, a Boston-based arts and culture nonprofit providing opportunities for youth and artists from underserved yet culturally rich neighborhoods to amplify their voices, share their
stories, and create community impact in addition, providing arts education in Boston Public Schools, upholding her commitment to change and healing through music and the arts.
